Les extrémités à boule de guitare et de basse sont faites avec du fil en laiton. Le laiton est usiné et découpé selon des spécifications rigoureuses pour assurer un ajustement et une fonction précis. Les extrémités à boule sont ensuite nettoyées et inspectées avant qu'elles ne soient prêtes à être utilisées.

Les bobines de cordes se composent d'un noyau et d'une couche enveloppante. Les noyaux sont fabriqués en coupant le fil hexagonal en longueur et en tordant une extrémité avec une forme spécifique et un compte de torsion pour attacher une extrémité de boule. Une fois fabriqués, les noyaux sont chargés sur des machines d'enroulement qui tournent le noyau tout en posant un enroulement constant du fil enveloppant autour du noyau.
